Week 7: Storr Summer Adventure

So it’s week 7 already? Summer isn’t playing with none of us. Between the kids fun during the week, blogging events, and weekend fun no one in my house can be bored! This week’s total was $74.37!

Monday

Park time. I knew it would be hot so instead of going out later I decided we would go to the park first thing. I was able to get my 3 miles in and they were able to run and play. It felt good to switch up our day and I was able to switch up my work day as well! They enjoyed it and then went home had lunch and read their books and played together!

Tuesday

Today we took it to the bowling alley. Two games for free, shoe rental, and dino bowling helper for $22! They brought a friend of Noelle so it cost us $14 so for the day $36 total and hours of fun! 40 min drive due to traffic both ways armed with packed snacks and water made for an afternoon outing full of fun! Watching them be competitive was hilarious! The way they kept trying to beat each other had me in tears!

Wednesday

Let’s get to reading. They have been reading about 4 books a week and the younger two have their Summer book reports complete! We made a stop to the library to return books and get new ones! The librarian definitely knows us at this point! I’m glad that I finally stopped in instead of going to other libraries near us. Also through the library’s Summer reading program another free book to add to their collection. At least we were able to get done before the storm came! We also stopped to have lunch at Burger King well they did anyway! Total was $14.26. I had Salad Works for $12.12! Combined total is 26.38!

Thursday

We decided to switch it up. They had balances on their Five Below card so I decided to let them spend it. They each got one toy, a snack and I brought drinks with us. This was after they spent the morning reading and doing their math while I worked! They spent 30 min inside that store because they were making sure they got the “right toy.” I added about 11.99 for whatever wasn’t covered with the gift cards!

Barnes and Nobles is doing a Summer reading challenge. For reading 8 books of any kind, you get to choose one book from a list of books for free! I love this. Between the library’s challenge, Barnes and Nobles and me just making reading a priority they have been doing amazing! Taking them to one of my absolute favorite stores always makes me happy!

Friday

It was a chill day. It was also my anniversary so I wanted to rest and relax. No working for me just spent the day watching them create forts in the living room, reading, we ate in the living room I rarely never let them do and just laughed and had a great time!

We did pretty good and as the Summer gets closer to a close I will be switching more family related activities and focusing on the weekend events! However I’m determined to still get them out and about and I found some new free events to do so!!

I hope you enjoyed this week and I can’t wait to recap the entire Summer!! You can have fun by doing something that you love and a little research!!

Amp up your Self Care

This weekend I found myself caught between love and self care. I celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary so all the lovey and dovey feelings came flooding in. But I also needed to reorganize and bolster my self care.

I needed to increase it and with all that is going on in the world it’s super necessary to feed our souls often. I find that it’s imaginable to think that we can exist only merely being an extension to others. We have to show ourselves more grace, understanding and love that others pull from us. It’s like being on a plane and making sure that everyone else on the plane has oxygen but depleting our own. This is self sabotage. You can be booked and busy but still need rest and recharging! It’s not selfish to bolster self care back into your soul.

Defeated

Sometimes we feel defeated because we have forgotten we need to renew our reasons why! Why do you want to pursue your goal? What does it mean to you? How much work are you prepated to do? How hard is your drive? These are the things that must be thought about and re-evaluated daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly!

Re-alignment

What can you do to take some pressure off of yourself? Can you collaborate with someone else? Ask for help? Prioritize? Take a break? Make a to do list? Whatever you need to do; do it today! You have to be one with yourself to get things done. An organized mindset and working environment can help!

Burnout

Burnout is real! You can blow a fuse without the right amount of energy flowing in your life. Moderation in all things will help create balance! Learning to drink and eat and have a spiritual connection will be key to creating balance! We all need balance! We need structure! If you go hard for a few weeks solid schedule some mental time off. It may not mean take a day off but it could mean schedule some rest stops! You could schedule a nap, an hour of quiet, reading a good book, a massage, an appointment in your favorite spot, or time to just watch something you enjoy! Whatever is is you need it!

You will burnout trying to take on the world especially if you don’t fill your cup up of those things that make you smile. Even if you have someone in your life having things that you like that that doesn’t require your significant other’s participating is better!

Sunday Message: In the Middle of Tears

Crying is a release. It cleanses us from the inside out. It doesn’t mean that after the tears are shed that it changes our circumstances! It does mean we have a temporary relief. Some of my best moves have come from tears.

Life is hard! It comes with ups and downs. I used to view crying as a sign of weakness. That’s not the case! Tears for me personally means I’m hurting and I’m overwhelmed. Feeling overwhelmed for many especially if no sign of comfort is nearby is what makes people stay in the feeling of hopelessness! It’s a terrible feeling. I’ve felt that sense of not having hope. It’s scary and often times it feels lonely. I would be lying if I acted as if the tears were inspirational all the time. They don’t feel like it!

I’m grateful for the times I’ve been able to cry and let it out and in addition to that dried my face and faced my shortcomings, failures, or humiliation! That isn’t weak at all that takes strength! It takes strength to say I’ve messed up and I’m not measuring up! You don’t know what and how others will view you! That is scary! But I am a witness you can look at the bottom and see the top even in darkness. In darkness if have had to ask God to turn on my night vision! That’s why when you are riding in life in light to build yourself up for those dark days! They are coming!! We also experience it!

So if you’re in a dark time right now-I understand! It’s not a great place but remember the time before this? Guess what? You come out! I know you see no way out but it’s coming! A way out is always near even if it seems out of reach! I pray night vision in your darkest time! Grace is there to carry you! This is why the whole cancel culture doesn’t make sense! Be mad at what a person has done but the same grace that covers me in my mess is the same grace that covers others! You can lose everything and be at the bottom but with work, forgiveness, and love you can shine. You might shine with humility or different support but you can still shine!

Happy Sunday! Make it your best!!

Ten Asian Food Hall

So last weekend my blogger and friend Cherryl aka Phillyfoodgal and I went to Ten Asian Food Hall. It’s located at 1715 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. I had never been before and you know how much I love trying new spaces.

Once inside it’s so much more open than I expected! The lighting in the restaurant is amazing. It’s clean which completely matters and the staff is interactive. So just for the first observations I definitely give my thumbs up. I walked a little further in and discovered the seating inside is amazing. It has a second floor as well.

So now that the aesthetics is pleasing let’s talk about food:

Variety:

This is a definite to please everyone on your list. There are options for pescatarian, vegetarians, carnivores, and vegans. Everyone can eat. From the appetizers to the dishes there is a little for everyone.

Signature Works

They have what’s called their signature dishes which are what they have already prearranged meals! The price ranges from about 8 dollars and goes to about 11. So it’s definitely price worthy options! You can select Ahi on Fire which is Ahi tuna, green and sweet onion, cucumber, masago, sesame seeds, and sriracha aioli. Everything is fresh!

Pick your Poké

Who doesn’t love an amazing poké bowl?! If made fresh and right it’s a one dish bowl of Heaven! You don’t have to worry about fresh at Ten Asian Fusion Food Hall! It’s made to order! Did you know they made poké bowls, sushi burritos, poké salads or even poké noodles. Your Poké you can have with either 2 choices for 10.95 or 3 for 12.95. You pick a 2-3proteins, 4 mix-ins, a flavor, 4 toppings and a crunch. I love choices especially when the choices!

Ten’s Bento Box

Here is where I like to call it a lunch or dinner on the run! It’s like a sophisticated TV dinner with much more style, flare, and taste! The one below is the La Galbi which is short beer rib over salad with Korean special grill sauce!

Hibachi Meal

You can even create your own Hibachi meal. It includes one protein for 9.25 or 2 for 11.50. It’s then served with stir fried rice, zucchini, onion, broccoli, carrot, and miso soup or salad! Oh and they even have fried tofu for my Vegan friends!

If that wasn’t enough…

Ten’s Ramen

They have Ramen! You get to pick your noodle, broth, protein and 4 ingredients for 10.95!! You can’t beat it!!

Bubble Tea

I love Bubble Tea! I also love Milk Bubble Tea but being vegan I haven’t had one since! That was until Sunday when I had their nondairy Milk! They have some really unique flavors such as Double Purple Milk Green Tea with Bubble!

So my Sunday Funday was great. I was so full from the options I only ate dinner no need to even snack!

Thank you to the staff of Ten Asian Food Hall! Thanks Cherryl aka Phillyfoodgal!!

Monday Motivation: Time to Move

Oh I hate moving! Hate is such a strong word but I loathe moving. The packing of it all and the stress makes me feel like I should have stayed where I was. The value of new living space isn’t seen in the midst of the move! That is the same in life. It’s more comfortable to stay put but moving is there is more value is key.

How many times have we known it was time to move on but didn’t! In love or life comfort will have you stuck as well as miserable. It’s supposed to make you uncomfortable enough to move but some of us is stubborn. Instead of taking the cue to move we will stay even more stagnant. We will drain our pool of support in the disdain but won’t make enough moves that is necessary. Then we holler that we aren’t getting enough support! It’s either the ones around you; you need to move from or you are the one that needs to move on! Stop pressuring folks to make you great and be it!

Moving requires a plan. It requires that you do some work. When I moved us from one home to the other I didn’t just wake up and say let’s do this. I choose to take off of work and move in the day while the kids were in school. I planned my moves so I can have the least amount of stress but that didn’t eliminate all of it. I didn’t charge those around me to pick up slack that was my responsibility not before, during, or after the move!

Value in moving is key. Even if you are downgrading there is value. Between making things easily within your budget or having better opportunities; there is value. What about moving as part of our health! It’s necessary and the value is there but we do the I’ll start…. You know it doesn’t happen! So then you have the audacity to get mad at the weight. You welcomed the weight on with your lifestyle so how can it be the weight’s fault? How can it be the raggedy boyfriend/girlfriend’s fault that YOU won’t let them go? YOU have to eliminate the drama. They are fine that’s why they are staying around-you are the benefit.

So where do you need to move this Monday? What responsibility do you need to take? What value do you need to look past the comfort of staying. At least if you’re going to complain at least complain towards a solution. If not you’re losing time, money and opportunities for free just to keep a comfort that’s robbing you of potential! Let’s move this Monday!

Week 5: Storr Summer Adventures

Well this week was a bit slow. I got what I thought was a sinus infection and my oldest had a Summer cold! So laid a bit not this week! We still had fun! So heres is how we ended up with a messy situation but ate well and spent time recovering for our Hershey Park trip! A total of 56.28 was spent!

Monday

Mondays are always uneasy! It was also national gummi bear day so we decided to do an ice-cream gummi bear dessert to celebrate. I love gummi bears and being Vegan didn’t have to miss out! With non dairy ice-cream and vegan gummies I was still winning! I had the Chunky Monkey ice-cream in house! I bought the kids Sour Patch ice-cream and gummi bear materials for $10.78!

Tuesday

We definitely kept it indoors as the heat was picking up and went to GPCC indoor swimming! Who didn’t need to cool off last week in Philadelphia?! We had a great time as usual! We grabbed snacks on the way for $12.00!

Wednesday

I find that these are low days and I secretly love them! I had an event so the kids hung out with family! I was able to get work done and attend the Philly Influencer Mixer which has brands come and meet Influencers and bloggers to work with! It’s an amazing way to network! Thank you to Davida for being our fearless leader! Follow especially Philadelphia bloggers or influencers as a Fall Mixer is up next and you want to be in the building!

Thursday

We got our and about! I had my physical with my doctor! I’m happy to announce that I’m in great health! My doctor is over the moon with my numbers. I encourage everyone to see about their health physically and emotionally!! I feel my best when I take for me! It’s not just about working out or just food it’s about the total mental health too. Doing what I love makes me complete! While there I was able to visit my old co-workers! We went to lunch and the kids got McDonald’s! Total was $12.71! I had the new plant based bowl at Qdobo for $10.79! We were going to go bowling but traffic was at an all time high so we made slime! To all of my parents you already know my plight!! But…..they had a blast! Materials were $10!!

Friday

It was entirely toooo hot but we also needed to get ready for the weekend Hershey Park trip since we were doing an overnight trip! So that meant cleaning, packing, and laundry! We also elected to do shaving cream art and keep things a bit messy! Armed with shaving cream and food coloring we had an amazing time!

I know if we hadn’t had a few sicknesses this week we would have been out and about more but with the way the heat was set up and the way our air conditioning bill has been we should never leave so we can feel like we are getting your money worth!

This week is already adventurous! We added a new activity for the week! I’ll highlight it next week!

A Dose of Discipline

It’s sheer madness that we are in July half way through the year! However even with that knowledge we have to make moves towards the goals we made. What do you need this morning? Discipline!

You already set your goals. You know what you want to make happen and in many ways how but you need discipline to actually take what you know and apply enough pressure to complete it. You need the amount or finesse to know when to pull back or push through. Discipline makes you move forward when tiredness kicks in. Discipline will kick in to have you take appropriate detours when necessary. Discipline is what separates knowledge from action.

I’ve had moments in life when I knew what to do but didn’t have the discipline to execute it. I knew to work out and how often I should but lacked the discipline to make it happen! So what can you do if you simply know but can’t make things happen? Goals aren’t going to just happen without you having to do your part! Weight won’t come off without the discipline to cut back on portions of the discipline to get active. New love won’t come if you’re not constantly working towards loving yourself and being disciplined enough to do it daily.

Disciplined is aligning your will in the moments when you feel unwilling. Disciplined is hard. It doesn’t feel good all the time. You usually are stuck between the desire to do your goals or not. It’s funny how we hate to push but hate ourselves more if we don’t. If your goal is to be in a new job what are you doing daily to make it happen? How many resumes have you put out? How many connections are you making? How many interviews have you gone on? Tired? Frustrated? Discipline has to kick in or you have to push towards discipline so instead of being mad a new job isn’t aligning simply because I’m just living in the hope it will come; I can walk and push because I’m doing the daily work for it to happen.

What areas do you lack discipline? What can you do to ensure success? If it’s working out at a certain time than setting your clothes the night before or packing your items will help. Also setting an alarm will help. Maybe getting an accountability partner will help. How about seeing a nutritionist will aid in your success? Maybe not going home but heading straight to the gym will help! How about in the job, setting a number of resumes in a day will help. How about having someone review your resumes or cover letter? If it’s love what ways are you walking in the ways you want your potential partner to walk? If you want someone who loves to travel but don’t own a passport-change it. You want someone with good credit how is your credit? You want someone that’s into their health but are you? How can you mirror what you claim you want to attract? Discipline! Sometimes discipline kicks in with taking an initial first steps and then when you feel like quitting-DON’T!
