Action Do Something

So let me just say that I have about had all I can take but I know that is not true because as time goes especially in the next day or so the complaints are going to take off.  I am referring to the swearing-in of Donald Trump, which artists or celebrities will be in attendance and even those who aren’t.  This is about the family and friends that are about to go into social media war…. Do Something!

Yes I said it.  There.  There will be countless of those who will have just about every complaint in the world but that will be where it stops.  You don’t like one of your celebrities or artist who is performing or going, than have an action plan.  One of the best ways is to stop following them on social media.  It’s like the Kardashian affect, people say they hate them but they have over 1 million followers a piece.  Yes some folks just follow to get the tea to someone’s life but you aren’t getting how that makes you the person look. You are literally watching a person you wouldn’t even otherwise care for and you aren’t even benefitting from it.  That is a sad part of life.  We ALL have better things to do than to allow the cycle to continue.  Although the media sometimes controls the images that are out, you personally can control what you take in.  I followed Chrisette Michelle an artist that has agreed to attend and sing at Donald Trump inauguration celebration.  Now whether or not I agree with her reasons or not, I sat and watched all the comments made and thought to myself, we have the power to evoke change.  The best way is in the pockets of any artist, socialite, etc.  They thrive on media interaction, and financial backings of their product.  It doesn’t just apply to this now political storm that has been brewing for quite some time now either.  This is a principle.

If you have people in your own personal life that you don’t deal with don’t just block them on social media but block their access to your spirit and life.  I have done this and trust me the peace to just live and not worry about the foolishness is priceless. So before you go gangster social media arguing, just end it and cut you out of it.  I had a disagreement with a family member.  I found myself getting all upset and going back and forth via social media than I thought, what is the point?   Just stop it now and deal with them on a personal level if you need to and move on.  Or not and just keep on pushing.  We give our energy to do many things and wonder why we are zapped out.  Even in your emails, you can unsubscribe correct?  Unsubscribe in real life.  There is no need to have things and people pulling on you to the point where you are up in arms.  Will Donald Trump being in office cause issues even for those who supported him?  I am sure it will. Learn to deal with what is for you and leave the rest.  If you are going to make a stand I say go for it but do it with more leg work and action and a lot less mouth.  We need a world of doers and not just good ideas alone. Protect your spirit and especially if you are a parent or help in the parenting of your children.

My thoughts on MLK Day?

As we have taken part in another MLK day, I have so many mixed emotions.  I have done my duty as a parent to instill in my kids the importance that they need to be accepting of others even though based on their own skin color they may not get that in return.  I have since my kids are under 8, shield them from a larger scale of the recent events but finding my own voice to still give them the messages that they will no doubt face.  That in itself has been hard.  I am very concerned in the balance of restricting imagery but not take away from the message.  So I spent more of my time researching the facts.  I have also attempted to keep it real but not tamper with my kids spirit.  They have to live in this world and know they can go through the fire but not get burned.  I could paint an ugly world.  I see that everyday.  I see adults do some damaging things to kids. I see race riots.  I see violence within communities and to communities.  I have had to take social media and blogging breaks more in 2016 than when I started 2 years ago.  Life can be confusing, complicated, and difficult.

I reflect on how even in elementary school I had to take a few fights for being called a Nigger.  I had teachers change my grades because I wasn’t seen as valuable.  So I will never let my kids think we live in a cookie cutter world.  As I rewatched the I have a dream speech today the very things that Dr. King spoke gotten better and other things seem as we have all dipped back in the 60’s.  So when all the service projects have ended, will we be a nation that can stand arm in arm with others who look differently and drop the hate?  Will my kids have to worry about being called a Nigger?  Will they be arrested for no reason, beat or even God forbid killed for no reason? My mother answer says no not mine.  My reality answer is Lord help us all.  The fact that just because these are issues that touch predominately brown people, people with disabilities, gay or lesbian, etc., the reality is that these issues touches us all.

In a few days we will have a new president.  Everything that we know will change.  That is fact.  The way that president-elect Trump to basically bring in his own team, fired many that have more political tenure then he, further let’s me know that.  It doesn’t matter if I like or agree with his political appetite or not.  Honestly I haven’t given too much thought on what type of president he will be.  What I am seeing now has been all over the place as well as a general inability to understand the policy that Trump brings.  What I will do is stay vigilant in keeping my home a safe haven.  A place where my family can come and have peace from the world.  A place where we can do what we need to do behind the scenes so we can take that same message of love outside of the home.

I will however have a voice.  I will use that voice in the coming weeks, months and years to come up with solutions.  I will find a way to let Dr. King’s words live in me.  It is more critical now to implement what he preached and make our kids see the same.  I pray that today was more than the once a year help others day.  What are you doing all year-long?  Do you take medication to the elderly? Do you know of a family who needs support?  Do you give a single mom or dad some assistance even if it’s just a home cooked meal?  We have to do more across the board than just giving this one day.  What reflection have you given to Dr. King’s legacy other than posting a meme?  It is time to apply Dr. King’s message to our everyday lives.

The World is on the Edge

Well we now know that Donald Trump is our president. I watched ALL the results.  So you can imagine that on my first day back to work today since my MIL past has been extra gloomy. I need to say what I am feeling today.  My heart is heavy.  I don’t feel like we shall overcome right now.  I don’t want to grab my neighbor and pat them down.  I am feeling lousy.  I know this too shall pass but since I am not in the passing mark, I got to vent.

I have a deep pain in my heart.  I mean I get what happened but it doesn’t make it right.  I know there are Trump supporters that are in a state of glee. I am not one who shares in those same sentiments.  To rally behind Trump knowing all the things he did to spew hate, separation, and ignorance doesn’t make sense.  I still don’t get all of his policies and feel like at this point I will just have to watch and see what unfolds.  Like how many times can someone ask you what you stand for and you constantly don’t have a clear plan?

My kids were mad this morning when we told them.  My son asked me if Trump who has been bullying people with his words will make an environment at school where more bullies can pop up. I had no answer for him.  I wanted to say no son it will be just fine but since I parent from a place of honesty I can’t sell him a dream I don’t believe in.  What was I supposed to do lie?  Not happening here.  I told him to let us know like we have always encouraged him to do.  I encouraged him to talk to his teacher.  I encouraged him to keep his hands to himself unless it’s in self-defense.  I made sure he knew that at his school he should be okay but if not I am a call away.  I couldn’t mince my words. I can’t give him rhetoric.  He needs to understand what he is up against.  He is old enough to get it better than some adults.  By all means if you have been following my blog you know I don’t advocate violence but I am not in any means going to tell my kids to get his ass beat and just sit there with no kid.  The police?  That’s a different story and a different conversation.  Kids?  Naw.

I am not asking for others to feel my pain in the same way that I am dealing with it.  I am just expressing where I am so I can move forward and find ways to protect my family.  The idea that sexism is not going anywhere makes me sick.  I said on my Facebook post yesterday:

I had a conversation with a male friend. My problem with the election is that sexism and racism seems to have won. My question is for males especially since women are usually objectified, where do your conversations go now? When you sit up with your male friends making comments that are disheartening, than what? I got some of the most woke males on my page dropping jewels and them same males would drop some of the most misogynistic comments towards women with respectful mothers and beautiful daughters in their home, so what is now your plan going forward? You are just a part of the problem.I’m not biting my tongue about these issues and expected to look at my daughters and tell them it’s gon be aight. We all want to rise up for race but leave women at the bottom of the barrel… Not no more.
Do you understand that statement above?  It’s not just because Clinton didn’t win. She came in to the race with a lot of baggage that the world wasn’t willing to accept.  The bigger picture is if you had to weigh both candidates we choose to make sure that a woman wouldn’t be in power and rolled the dice on a candidate that comes off as misogynist, racist, etc.  That sends chills up my spine just typing it.  I know some won’t agree.  Some had said that the devil you know is better than the one who you don’t.  In some respects that is true but when the devil is selling you a plan that you know isn’t in the best interest of the whole picture that is definitely scary business.
I have no answers.  I know that eventually things will get worst before it gets better.  I saw online where KKK are marching down south declaring Trump’s victory.  One of my co-workers daughter’s school has already had fights this morning because students were debating the election.  Another family member of mine states that her daughter is in class where students are calling brown and black students niggers.  I know it to be true not just because she is family, but because I went to the same district years ago and had the same exact thing happen to me.  So again I am not out evoking fear.  However I can afford to turn a blind eye to the mess either.  I wish everyone safety and that hopefully we can find a place of love.  My reality shows me that some will and some won’t.  I pray that the ones who won’t will be dealt with justly and swiftly.
I read someone say why can’t we love and move on.  I love all.  My intent is to show love. My intent is to treat everyone around me the same that I would want to be treated.  I live in a reality where the same sentiments will not be given to me or my family.  I love wiht a strong dose of reality and preparedness.

Miss me with It!

Let me be clear as a married woman I’m not shopping around for a stand by mate.  I have to make that disclaimer early because misery loves company and I’m good.  I was on my social media look around and a friend of mine made a statement that took me back.  Now since I know how blogging about others work I will keep all identity closed.  However I have to lay out some of the things that rubbed me the wrong way.

One we as humans are super divided. Its down right out-of-pocket. What I can’t deal with is when adult men say something of the most insensitive things in regards to women.  I know women say off things too but for me men are leaders. Leaders who go out their way to belittle women just are another level of human I don’t vibe well with.

How do some men push their level of ignorance, entitlement, or pure arrogance around but want to be treated like kings? This isn’t all men. I have to say that not to lose the man who will use that statement to mentally check out.

I started this blog a week ago but since the comments from Donald Trump this seems like the best time to release it. Men have always been apart of the boys club by nothing more than the member between their legs.  Whether or not men subscribe and are active members is what matters most to me. It would be great to live in a society where women and men were equal but unfortunately we aren’t there yet.  Women are the ones who have to defend themselves against this type of foolishness. It’s sheer madness.

I made a statement on my personal Facebook page and I stand by it.  If I can’t even get the men whom I associate with to make changes than we have a long way to go.   If saying things in regards of grabbing pussy or getting any women you want and making said women do what you want don’t sound off than what is? Women aren’t objects.  We are more than the curves of our body.  The flip to this is we women too need to wake up and know that too.  We objective men and if we want an equal playing field than we got to play accordingly. Do I have the answer on what will make a man respect women across the board?  Nope but it starts with the men we have in our lives. If you dating a man or married to one who does this, shut it down. Speak up. Do not sit and say they just being men.  My husband almost snapped his neck looking at a women’s ass in front of me.  I almost came across the other side and snapped it back. I spoke up. I’m not going to sit idle and see no mess like that going down and be okay with it.  If you do it with someone in my presence than the respect line I set up most not be well-defined.

I have some of the most respected leaders in my circle but I too have heard them when they think they are I mixed crowds speak about women but have a different woke conversation when affluent men and women are around. If you listen to people they reveal their real selves and not the lines they want you to know.  I will continue to call this crap out.  Donald and the only ones we need to worry about. Stop sitting in the presence of a man who speaks like this period.  Don’t date them.  Don’t sleep with them and don’t marry them. They are the same ones who will have to raise your daughters. They are the ones grooming their sons to break your princesses’ heart.  So while the world is tearing Donald a new one and he definitely deserves it, just be sure to snap on the ones you entertain too.
